FAQs

Who can play for Muscat Foxes Hockey Club?

Anyone can join and play for us! We are a club open to everyone, although we strongly recommend some hockey playing experience! We have players, both male and female, from all nationalities, from Oman, to the UK.

Training sessions and intra-club matches are only 1 OMR per session for guests and free for club members. Under 18s get free club membership.

Participation in competitive fixtures, tournaments and tours is open to all club members.

Contact Us if you want more information on how to join us, or simply turn up at 7pm on a Wednesday night.

What is the standard of hockey like?

We cater for a wide range of abilities, from social players, to former National League players (we have both!)

The hockey played is of a good standard. Whether its a casual knock around, or full-blooded competition you're after, you'll fit right in.

Do you play on Astroturf?

Yes. Our home pitch is a floodlit sand-based astroturf. Some other local clubs play their games on grass.

Do you play in a league?

Unfortunately only Omani nationals can play in the National Hockey League in Oman. However, we organise matches against other expat clubs, local Omani clubs, visiting ships, and in tournaments held across the Middle East.

The number of competitive matches is increasing all the time, currently about once a month. We have intra-club matches every week.

Surely it is too hot to play hockey in Oman?

Absolutely not! It can be tough during the summer months but playing in the heat is great for your fitness levels. Plus temperatures drop in the evening when we play.

Can kids play hockey with you?

We have hockey for kids every week from 6pm - 7pm. Coaching is carried out by Muscat Foxes adult members and it is open to anyone aged between 6 - 16. We have all standards, and best of all - its free! Contact Dom for more information. Once at a standard where able handle adult hockey, young players will be allowed to slowly integrate into the adult training sessions under guidance.

Do you socialise after games?

After Wednesday evening sessions, many of us retire to the Habana Bar at the Grand Hyatt for a drink.

After fixtures, we have food and drink put on for us by the Grand Hyatt free of charge.
